Have you tried Benadryl?

I had been a nurse for a number of years when my son contracted chicken pox. Complaining and scratching increased as his itching intensified. I tried the usual topical over-the-counter (OTC) treatments to no avail. Shortly after, someone with no medical background asked me, "Have you tried Benadryl?". It had not occurred to me to try Benadryl during the middle of his itching crisis. I should have known, yet I needed to be reminded. This was a humbling experience but taught me to be open to receive from others. Their perspective was better than mine at that moment because I had tunnel vision.

Here's a reminder when you are distracted or have tunnel vision. When life gets tough our minds tend to focus on the pain, the unknown, or the chaos. However, you have the ability to choose your thoughts. We can't think about two things at once, try it and see. This is written in Isaiah 26:3 NKJV You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

How about an encouraging reminder? It's the first week of December and wanted to share a few of my favorite hope scriptures. Choose to think upon these promises of your heavenly Father!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV

Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:5 NLT

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13 ESV
